In "75 Minutes for Global Cooperation" WGS Explores the Future of Digital Cooperation, Education, Employment and Climate Change
The global dialogue, organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, hosted more than 5,000 participants from various countries worldwide. It featured a session focusing on strengthening joint global action to face potential challenges and set development priorities. It pinpointed the importance of engaging all community segments and institutions, and enhancing the role of women and youth in shaping the future.
The dialogue started with an opening speech by H.E. Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit, and a keynote speech by H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, during which they emphasized the importance of boosting global partnerships to make a better future for next generations. They further addressed a number of future challenges and opportunities in the most vital sectors.
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and figures from various religious backgrounds residing in the UAE participated in the session, sending a global message of tolerance, and calling for boosting global partnerships and cooperation for the benefit of mankind. They showcased the UAE’s success story in promoting peace and coexistence, building a value system based on respect in a society welcoming more than 200 nationalities.
H.E. Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future and Vice-Chair of the World Government Summit, stated that the UAE is keen to promote global cooperation and partnerships, enhance governments’ readiness for the future, and engage societies in designing future paths and establishing an advanced development system to promote the UN initiatives and ensure the achievement of the sustainable development goals (UN SDGs).
During the main session entitled "Digital Cooperation to Empower Generations and Societies", H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and H.E. Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of the UNICEF, addressed the importance of promoting global partnerships and encouraging pluralism to achieve peace and prosperity worldwide.
They discussed the digital transformation taking place worldwide, as one of the priorities of the current phase and one of the elements of the future. They stressed the importance of focusing on investment in capacity-building and digital cooperation at the national, regional and global levels. They further pinpointed that developing human capital is an integral part of developing a sound digital infrastructure worldwide.
