H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, honoured Lindsey Poulter, a data visualisation designer and developer, for winning the World Data Visualisation Prize

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, today honoured Lindsey Poulter, a data visualisation designer and developer, for winning the World Data Visualisation Prize at the World Government Summit (WGS) 2023.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed stressed the need to motivate innovators and governments to develop tools and solutions for promoting innovative presentation of data and enhancing data comprehensibility and use for the benefit of communities.

He said that, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the WGS offers a platform for sharing the best global experiences and innovations in designing and shaping the future, raising Dubai profile as a world-class hub for exchanging knowledge and expertise.

The prize winner, Lindsay Poulter, presented data in an easy-to-understand narrative style, making it more user-friendly. She also presented an interactive platform that enables users to study data across different sectors, through a customised research criterion.

This data-driven platform supports governments in understanding the importance of data and using it to support decision-making and policy amendments.

The World Data Visualisation Prize presents innovators from around the globe with a challenge to produce a series of data-related designs. This year’s prize banked on the success of its first cycle launched at the WGS 2019.

The winner, who was selected by a panel of leading data visualisation experts, received a cash prize. Her work was also displayed online on the WGS 2023 web portal.

The Summit, featuring the participation of more than 10,000 leaders, businessmen, government officials, thought leaders and experts from around the globe, concludes on 15th February.
