Giving decision-makers exclusive access to analysed data from Internet of Things and
Smart Services can pave the road to happiness, the Chairman of Emirates Integrated
Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) has said.

His Excellency Ahmad Bin Byat told the World Government Summit that “people
interaction data” aggregated from various sources of the Internet of Things and
Smart Services is fundamental for best management of the city.

“Having this data early on will allow us to design to plan to implement to continually
manage the city we are living in,” he said.

The data will be analysed and converted to “usable knowledge to make decisions”.

Bin Byat continued: “This knowledge will be available open data platform for city of
Dubai which will a large number of stakeholders to access this information and
retrieve data live online continuously.

“If we do that then we will be able to improve efficiency of city. If we improve
efficiency productivity increases, and then our competitive rises, and then we have
more engaged happy people living in our cities.”

The emirate’s leadership through technology has “allowed us to build a city where
parts are talking”, the chairman said. And the “talking parts” could even help tackle
and prevent incidents such as the fire at The Address Hotel Downtown on New
Year’s Eve.

Bin Byat said: “A small faulty condenser made spark created a big fire… we have
access to data only from mobile network… imagine if this data is augmented with
other services such as utilities.”
