HH Sheikh Mohammed Directs to expand participation of global governments

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed expanding the participation of global governments at the next edition of The Government Summit and underline the position of the UAE as the world capital for government innovation.

It is worth mentioning that The Second Government Summit, which concluded recently, was a remarkable success, witnessing the participation of 50 governments, more than 4,600 participants and 60 speakers from around the world. At the closing ceremony, the winners of the first Best M-Government Award were honored.

Cabinet Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Government Summit Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, said that the third edition of the Summit will be held from 9 to 11 February 2015.  He added that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed has given the directive to start preparations for the next Summit immediately, working towards achieving a broader and larger vision to further establish the Summit as a truly global event dedicated to driving the development of innovative solutions in government services.
Next year, the event will be much more aligned with the rapid scientific developments to help create advanced models of government services for the future.

Al Gergawi explained that the Government Summit 2015 will include exhibitions and global awards. A permanent exhibition of government services will exhibit new trends and evolutions in global government services while the second will showcase the future of government services including those to be launched in the coming decades led by advancements in information revolution and future technology.

An International Prize of US$1 million for the use of unmanned aircraft technology in government services will be presented next year. Another award will recognize the best mobile government services at the local, regional and global levels.

The next edition of the Summit will also enhance knowledge partnerships with international organisations such as the United Nations, the OECD and ESCWA and other regional and international organisations, universities and private sector companies.
