Annual Gathering 2019

The World Government Summit organization aims to shape the future generation of governments. This core mission stems from the need for governments to evolve, as mandated by the technological advances of the last few decades. The Summit brings the public and private sectors together to collaborate with world-renowned experts in order to help create a positive impact for citizens worldwide.

The World Government Summit hosts its Annual Gathering in February of every year in Dubai, UAE. The Seventh Annual Gathering of the Summit will be held on February 10th-12th, 2019.

Edge of Government

Edge of Government

The Edge of Government is an immersive experience that invites visitors on a journey through a landscape of rapidly emerging and continuously evolving solutions to the most pressing public challenges of our time. Organised and curated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, the Edge of Government presents leaders with the chance to take a closer look at innovations happening at the fringes of central governments and connect with innovators. It exhibits novel methods that enable authorities to make a real impact on citizens’ lives and change the world for the better. The experience urges visitors to think of new and counter-intuitive ways to solve current key challenges and encourages them to experiment with unconventional approaches.

Museum of the Future

The fifth installation of the Museum of the Future was on show during the World Government Summit 2018. The exhibition used interactive experiences to introduce visitors to artificial intelligence (AI) and how it could affect life in the future. Each room explored a different aspect of current debates: Can AI be creative? Can it be helpful? Can it go wrong? What is our future together? His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, opened the exhibition. He highlighted the fact that AI will add $15 trillion to global GDP within 12 years. “The Museum of the Future is a unique incubator for futuristic innovations and design,” he said. “We are determined to make the UAE a major contributor to future development. The UAE government sets an example to the governments of the world in adopting technological advancements as a driver for development. AI is key when we speak about tackling future challenges.” The permanent Museum of the Future will open in Dubai in 2019. The museum will become the world’s largest and most exciting way to discover tomorrow’s trends and opportunities. An initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, it aims to be an incubator for ideas, a driver of innovation, and a destination for inventors and entrepreneurs from around the world.
