SME Development and Financial Inclusion in the Arab Region in Partnership with IMF

(By Invitation Only ) This high-level session will focus on strategies and policies for developing vibrant small- and medium-size enterprise (SME) sectors in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. International experience suggests that SMEs could be an important engine of sustainable, diversified, and inclusive growth and job creation. Many countries across the world have been striving to promote SMEs yet success in this area in the MENA region has been limited. Drawing on cross-country experiences, market perspectives, and economics literature, this session will bring together high-level policymakers, private sector representatives, and academics to discuss policies that could help boost SME development in the region—with emphasis on financial inclusion (FI) and economic diversification.
