David McCandless, Journalist and Data Visualization Expert, explained how, in a world that relies more than ever on information, asking the right question of data - and packaging it the right way - can be an effective tool for governments to communicate with their citizens. He gave an example saying; ask who has the biggest military budget in the world and the answer will be the United States. But ask the right question about who spends the biggest percentage of its GDP on the military budget and the US slides to 19th place. This is especially useful in a world that overloads us with information which can be manipulated to prove and disprove any point, understanding all relevant information is critical to how we structure policy.
