World Government Summit Award's Ceremony

<p>The World Government Summit 2017 honored the best governmental initiatives that showcase outstanding innovation and efficiency. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, handed over the awards to the winners.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The World GovTechioneers Race considered 2400 nominations from 62 countries. The first award targets the Best Mobile Government Service. The Government of Australia won the first category, Education, in recognition of the Learning Potential app which give parents, schools and educators tips and easy guidance on education and sports.&nbsp; The 3 finalists were Europe, Brazil and Australia.</p> <p>The nominees for the Health category were UAE, Brazil and Singapore. The Brazilan app developed in 2016 for public health surveillance, Guardians of Health, won.</p> <p>Germany won the award of the Social Affairs category for its five-language Arrival App which helps refugees to integrate in the host country. The other nominees were Sweden and India. </p> <p>In the category of Tourism, UAE was rewarded for Visit Abu Dhabi application which offers interactive guides for visitors in 10 languages. The other nominees were Japan and Russia. </p> <p>The Estonian application, EESTI ENERGI, which allows consumption management, won in the category of environment. The other nominees were the USA and the UAE.</p> <p>The Dubai Police application, UAE, won in the category of Safety and Security. This application permits to raise the level of security and provides instant contact with the authorities. The other nominees were the Netherlands and France. </p> <p>In the category of Trade and Economy, UAE, the Sultanate of Oman and Singapore were nominated. However, Singapore won for the smart interactive services offered by Vendors application. </p> <p>In the category of Transportation and Infrastructure, Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, UAE, won. The application is designed to support all roads services including paying parking fees, checking traffic and paying fines. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The winner of One-Stop-App is the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its mobile government application provides 80 smart e-services, giving citizens secured access to their personal data. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The second award, Best Government Emerging Technologies, studied 73 cases from 32 countries. The winners are in order the Ministry of Health in Estonia (E-Health Records), The Ministry of Transportation in Singapore (Self-Driving Cars) and the Netherlands (Smart City Amsterdam) third. </p> <p>In the blockchain technology hackathon, 1011 participants representing 41 countries competed. The Blockchain Virtual Govhack Award of went to Project Oaken platform for automated M2M transaction. HealthBlocks for health information exchange came second and Dubai Land Registry third for Digitizing Title Deeds on Blockchain.</p> Additionally, since 2017 is the year of Giving, a special award was handed over to Hypergive project which allows communities to crowdfund secure digital food wallets for homeless and hungry people.&nbsp;
