<p>H.E. Irina Bokova, director general of the UNESCO, addressed the essential contributions and agendas the UNESCO has been providing throughout the years and future policies that will help to create a better society. Bokova illustrated that the platforms of education and innovation are the bedrock of UNESCO. </p> <p>H.E. highlighted the important policies and agendas that are beneficial in building peaceful societies that thrive on development, considering all the global changes taking place. First, Bovoka referred to the indicators reflecting the risks the world is facing like climate change, poverty, negligence of women and girls, and the exclusion of youth, which ought to be faced and addressed. Secondly, she stressed on the establishment of vital policies that provide equal opportunities in order to prevent conflicts and create a path towards peace. These policies are vital and should be realized globally on the grounds that there are certain societies currently undergoing transformation, and are facing sometimes the rise of policies fueled by extremism and inequality. As a result of the need to achieve a developmental society that thrives on attaining peace; building strong and real partnerships and collaborating to refute hegemonic discrimination and racial segregation should become the essential building blocks of the policies highlighted by UNESCO.</p> <p>H.E. &nbsp;also clarified that steps to be taken to achieve those goals will have to embrace education, technology, establishing basics of good governance and civilized cultural dialogue, considering the scarcity of resources and optimizing the use of renewable energy; including the creative human capital.</p> <p>H.E. concluded the session by demanding a new leadership that helps in building a new world that harnesses new technologies of inclusion and innovation in order to reach new grounds. The speaker highlighted the importance of mobilizing a new form of a cultural fabric that emphasizes coexistence and encourages collective creativity and dynamism. Bokova demonstrated that the responsibility of realizing these policies should not only fall within the political scope, but also encompass the public and private sector along with the civic and academic entities.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
