<p>In his session titled &ldquo;The Ideology of Ignorance&rdquo;, Ibrahim Al Buleihi, a Saudi writer and thinker, shed light on rigid thinking and how the mind is programmed to ignorance. He says that man is a spontaneous creature who is governed by ideology.</p> <p>Mr. Al Buleihi elaborated that human mind has no prior criteria for judgement of what is right or wrong; the first ideas imprinted on it formulate their perspective and view.&nbsp; He then went on to explain the concept of complex ignorance, which is a programmed ideology that later becomes a criterion of judgement, and that the exclusion of others is an innate part of human nature.</p> <p>Contrary to popular belief, Mr. Al Buleihi argued that we cannot expect education to solve this problem, especially when what is taught consolidates cultural inheritance and the deeply-rooted mental structure. Additionally, he explained that the scientific revolution that overtook Europe in the Middle Ages did not focus on acquiring new information but on building the capacity for criticism. Instead, he insisted that education could not be counted on, unless it is directed against hatred and exclusion of the other, shaking existing structures and shocking the mind into reform. He praised the efforts of the UAE aiming to make education a general trend leading towards a culture of mutual acceptance and tolerance.</p> <p>When asked about the reasons of thought to be rigid rather than vivid, Al Bueihi asserted that negative traits accumulate naturally. He stipulated that it is everybody&rsquo;s responsibility, especially thinkers and leading figures, to understand the nature of our minds and approach it in a more positive manner.</p>
