Urban Design for the 21st Century
Brief
The nature of challenges facing cities is changing and so are the approaches to addressing them and designing cities at large. With the rise of the technology sector and its repertoire of digital solutions, there is a growing notion that technology will solve urban challenges. Yet, this is a misconception that results in overlooking other aspects of the issue at hand, including factors that do not require a technology-based approach. In this session, Adam Greenfield reflects on how cities can optimize the role of technology in urban design, noting that it should be part of a comprehensive solution and not the end goal.
