Shaping a Green Future

Brief

The electrification of cities and households in the 19th and 20th centuries has transformed societies and economies. More than a century later, electrification is entering new frontiers as it paves the way for the clean energy transition. The largest opportunities for electrification are in mobility and smart infrastructure; given their scale, governments are ought to plan ahead and advance the capabilities of power grids to accommodate the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), smart cities, and climate adaptation strategies. In this session, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer outlines how electrification in new sectors will promote future preparedness with policy and technological innovation.
