On the Verge of A Global Food Crisis ... Can We Contain It?
Brief
Food crises around the world exacerbated by conflict and the Covid-19 pandemic are foreshadowing a future of global food insecurity. Supply chain disruptions, population growth, consumer behavior, and climate change will take an even more considerable toll on global food systems unless decisive action is taken to increase global output and resilience. Aside from achieving synergy between global, regional, and domestic policy, innovation will be key to feeding future populations as world food demand is set to increase by 70% by 2050. In this session, global food security leaders outline policy recommendations to contain a looming food pandemic and combat world hunger.
