2020 was a year of extremes. We saw great fragmentations between and within states in dealing with the pandemic, a widening of existing inequalities around incomes, access to healthcare, and sometimes basic services such water and sanitation. Above all, nations were filled with worry, anxiety and a fear of and from the future. In the context of a global collective rocked by uncertainty, how can trust in governments alleviate the angst and fear the pandemic has created? How do governments ensure their citizens are not plagued by worries, or find their trust in officials and government strategies shaken and brittle? We are joined by Mr. Richard Edelman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Edelman, to share his insights on governments building trust in their nations for a strong, national sense of solidarity and hope.
