Joe Kaeser is President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG, a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering. He has over 35 years of experience at Siemens, where he has held a variety of leading management positions in finance and strategy both in and outside Germany.
Joe Kaeser began his career at Siemens in 1980 in the field of components and semiconductors, where he also worked in Malaysia and the U.S. In 1999, he joined the Corporate Finance department. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Information and Communication Mobile Group. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Siemens’ Chief Strategy Officer. Immediately prior to his appointment as CEO in August 2013, Joe Kaeser had served as Siemens’ Chief Financial Officer for seven years.

• Planning. Planning for the future of energy is vital and is constantly a focus of governments given the implication on shaping the future of countries and achieving their development plans.
• Innovation and Technology. There is no doubt that innovation and technology is very important in shaping the future of energy. Disruptive technologies has an important implication on the diversification of future energy sources and requires close cooperation between the government and the private sector as well as the research and development sector.
• Climate Change. Future of energy is closely related to global efforts tackling the climate change. Many governments started to take impact on the climate into considerations in developing their future energy plans.
