I will be moderating a session titled “Global water security and sustainability for the Future” to discuss the future water scarcity challenges in the world, especially in the Middle East. I will also shed the light on the myriad of strategies, technologies and innovative initiatives adopted by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to tackle these challenges and achieve water security.

This panel will discuss the future of the energy sector in light of the changes taking place globally. In particular, the panelists will focus on the following 3 areas of interest:
• Planning. Planning for the future of energy is vital and is constantly a focus of governments given the implication on shaping the future of countries and achieving their development plans.
• Innovation and Technology. There is no doubt that innovation and technology is very important in shaping the future of energy. Disruptive technologies has an important implication on the diversification of future energy sources and requires close cooperation between the government and the private sector as well as the research and development sector.
• Climate Change. Future of energy is closely related to global efforts tackling the climate change. Many governments started to take impact on the climate into considerations in developing their future energy plans.
