Andrew Oswald is a professor of economics and behavioural science at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. His research, started 25 years ago, contributed to the early foundations of the discipline now known as the economics of happiness. He serves on the board of the editors of the journal Science and is an ISI Highly Cited Researcher.

GDP is being used worldwide as a measure of growth, corresponding to greater levels of well-being and happiness. However in recent years, growing economic indicators did not foresee crashes in societal well-being. In this session, Prof. Oswald will address the use of happiness as the new GDP and why it could matter more.
