Professor Lord Layard is the Director of the Wellbeing Programme at the LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance. He currently works on making subjective wellbeing of the people the central objective of governments, and advises the UK government on mental health policy. He is the author of the influential book Happiness, and (with psychologist Professor David Clark) the recently published Thrive: The power of evidence-based psychological therapies. His forthcoming book looks at The Origins of Happiness.
