Elon Musk is the CEO and Product Architect at Tesla, which he co-founded in 2003.  He oversees product development, engineering, and design for the all-electric vehicle range, which is manufactured in Fremont, California. The Tesla Roadster sports car debuted in 2008, followed by the Model S Sedan, which was introduced in 2012, and the Model X SUV, which came out in 2015.  The Model S earned the highest-ever safety rating awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  From the beginning, Tesla’s mission has been rooted in furthering the transition to a sustainable energy economy, in which compelling electric transport will play a crucial role. In that spirit, the company opened its patents to all in 2014. He is also the founder and CEO of Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX).
